And the two gentlemen remain facing each other, while each passes his lady behind him (letting go her hand as soon as necessary) and reaches out with his right hand and takes the opposite lady, who is coming around from behind the opposite man, by her right hand, and without turning away from facing the opposite man, passes her around behind him. He now reaches out with his left hand and takes his partner, who has just passed around the opposite gentleman, by her left hand. Still holding her left hand in his left, he puts his right hand behind her waist and turns her to whatever new position the dance calls for. For a complete discussion of the docey-doe see page 108.)
